The Casa de Portinari Museum does many actions to conserve the historical and artistic heritage under its responsibility. This heritage consists of the museum-house buildings, wall paintings and just over 600 objects, including drawings by Candido Portinari, furniture, clothing, household and personal utensils, tools, paint tubes, brushes and photographs.
The conservation of the house, chapel and little houses takes place through constant inspection and maintenance of roofs, gutters, walls, floors, doors and windows, to avoid or reduce the wear and tear of the buildings, which happens mainly by the action of rains and winds. The care of objects is varied and depends on the materials from which they are made, and may be metal, porcelain, wood, paper, fabric or a combination of them.
In general, all objects receive cleaning, protection from sunlight, heat, moisture, fungi, insects, breakage and theft.
